Gabriel’s talk peace be upon him. It is a hadith that includes a definition of the pillars of Islam, faith and charity, and the signs of the Day of Resurrection according to the belief of Muslims.[1] This was narrated on the authority of the two companions, Omar bin Al-Khattab and Abu Hurairah.[2] The hadith is mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and the Nawawi Forty.[3]
It is considered one of the hadiths on which the orbit of religion is based. Ibn Rajab mentioned in the book “Jami’ al-Ulum wa al-Hikam” that it contains many rulings, benefits and issues.

Omar’s story[عدل]
Muslim narrated in his book Sahih Muslim that he said:[4]
On the authority of Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, he said: While we were sitting with the Messenger of God ﷺWhen a man appeared to us, whose clothes were very white, his clothes were very black, and no traces of travel could be seen on him, and none of us knew him, until he sat down to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, resting his knees on his knees, and placing his palms on his thighs, and he said: O Muhammad, tell me about Islam. He said to him: Islam is to testify that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, to establish prayer, to pay zakat, to fast Ramadan, and to perform pilgrimage to the House if a way is possible for him. He said: You are right. He said: Then tell me about charity. He said: To worship God as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then He sees you. He said: Then tell me about the Hour. He said: Then tell me about its signs. He said: That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress, and that you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute shepherds competing in constructing lofty buildings. Then he went off and broadcasted for a while, then he said: O Omar, do you know who the questioner was? I said: God and His Messenger know best. He said: It is Gabriel who came to you to teach you your religion.
Narrated by Abu Hurairah[عدل]
Al-Bukhari narrated in his book Sahih Al-Bukhari that he said:[5]
Musaddad told us, he said Ismail bin Ibrahim told us, Abu Hayyan al-Taymi told us, on the authority of Abu Zara’a, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was out with the people one day, and Gabriel came to him and said: What is faith? He said: Faith is to believe in God, His angels, His books, meeting with Him, and His messengers, and believe in the resurrection. He said: What is Islam? He said: To worship God as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then He sees you. And peace be upon him, God has knowledge of the Hour, then he turned away and said: They turned him back, and they did not see anything, so he said: This is Gabriel who came to teach people their religion.
