Personality psychologyis a branch psychology Which studies the concept of personality and its diversity among individuals. This branch is considered as an empirical study aimed at showing individual differences caused by psychological forces between people. Areas of interest in personality psychology include:

• Formation of a coherent picture of the individual and his main psychological processes.
• Study of individual psychological differences.
• The study of human nature and the psychological similarities between individuals.

Personality is a dynamic, organized set of characteristics that an individual possesses that uniquely affect his environment, perceptions, emotions, motivations, and behaviors in the context of different situations. The word personality is derived from the Latin word persona Persona Which means “mask”.

The concept of personality may also refer to the pattern of thoughts, feelings, social adaptations, and behaviors that persist and influence an individual’s expectations, self-concepts, values, and attitudes to a large extent. Personality predicts human reactions to other people, problems, and stress. Many researchers and psychologists do not associate themselves with a particular perspective overtly, but rather take an eclectic approach. Research in this field can be described as empirically driven – such as dimensional models based on multivariate statistics such as factor analysis – or focused on theory development such as psychodynamic theory. Moreover, there is a great emphasis on the applied field related to personality testing. The study of the nature of personality and its psychological development in the field of psychological education and training is presented as a prerequisite for courses in Non-standard psychology or Clinical psychology.

Many of the ideas of personality theorists, both ancient and modern, are rooted in their underlying philosophical assumptions. The study of personality is not a purely empirical discipline, as it requires technical, scientific, and philosophical elements to draw general conclusions. The following five categories are some of the most important philosophical assumptions over which theorists disagree:

• Freedom vs. Inevitability – It is a matter of whether humans are able to control their own behavior and understand their underlying motives, or whether their behavior is causally determined by forces beyond their control. Theories classify behavior as either unconscious and associated with the environment, or as biological.
• Genetics (nature) vs environment (nurture) – Character is defined by either Genetics and biology, or through the environment and experiences. Contemporary research indicates that most personality traits are based on a combined effect of genetics on the one hand and environment on the other. C is considered One of the pioneers in this field was Robert Cloninger, who modeled temperament and personality.
• Exclusivity vs college – It is an issue that deals with the extent of the privacy of each human being (exclusivity) or similarity (totality). Gordon Allport, Abraham Maslow, and Carl Rogers are all proponents of the singularity. In contrast, behavioral scientists and cognitive theorists stress the importance of holistic principles such as reinforcement and self-efficacy.
• Reactivity vs Interactivity – This problem deals with whether human beings are driven primarily by individual initiative (activity) or driven by external motivators. Traditional behavioral theorists usually believe that humans have no role in the process of shaping their environment, while humanistic and cognitive theorists believe that humans have an active role in this process. Most contemporary theorists agree that both views are important, with traits determining overall behavior, while situational factors are the primary predictors of short-term behavior.
• optimism vs pessimism – Personality theories differ in that people are considered an integral part of the changes that occur in their personalities. Education-oriented theories are often more optimistic than others.
